Role Overview:

The Temporary Accommodation Officer is pivotal in providing a high-quality, responsive service to homeless households in temporary accommodation. This role ensures homes are well-maintained, safe, and habitable. The officer will also guide residents through housing options and ensure they receive the necessary support.

Accountability: This role reports to the Temporary Accommodation Team Leader and Social Lettings Agency Manager. It is a part of the Homelessness & Housing Solutions service within the Communities & Opportunities Directorate.

Tasks

  1. Oversee temporary accommodation sign-ups, providing advice on rent, license conditions, and housing benefits.
  2. Collaborate with local guesthouses and providers to maintain accommodation standards.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate data entry related to accommodation placements.
  4. Conduct regular visits to accommodation units, ensuring maintenance and addressing antisocial behavior.
  5. Support residents in transitioning from temporary accommodation.
  6. Collaborate with team members and external partners to support homeless households.
  7. Efficiently use Office 365 and internal IT systems.
  8. Challenge and eliminate discriminatory practices.
  9. Ensure health, safety, and welfare of all involved.

  • Computer Literacy and Numeracy: Essential
  • Communication Skills: Essential
  • Initiative and Teamwork: Desirable
  • Office 365 Proficiency: Essential

Knowledge:

  • Equality and Diversity: Desirable
  • Local Authority Services: Desirable

Relevant Experience:

  • Homelessness Work: Desirable
  • Information Processing (GDPR): Desirable
  • Workload Management: Desirable

Education:

  • GCSE or Equivalent: Essential

Selection Process: Candidates will be assessed through a combination of Application Forms, Tests, Interviews, Presentations, and Documentation.
