We are looking to employ a Housing Triage Officer on an initial 3 month contract to provide a high quality first point of contact and triage service (face-to-face, on the telephone and by e-mail) for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and have dependent children or are pregnant or vulnerable.
Tasks
- Manage all housing advice enquiries, ensuring rapid initial assessment and appropriate signposting.
- Conduct thorough assessments of customers' needs, verifying information through documentation.
- Collaborate with teams and organizations to ensure comprehensive assessment of housing and support needs.
- Innovate and strategize with colleagues for improved service delivery and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records for effective case management.
- Stay updated with relevant legislation, guidance, and case law to ensure compliance.
- Understand and adhere to the Council s safeguarding policies.
- Efficiently use Office 365 and internal IT systems for productivity and risk management.
- Actively challenge and eliminate discriminatory practices or behaviors.
- Ensure health, safety, and welfare considerations in all interactions.

Skills and Abilities:

- Caseload Management: Successfully manage a large caseload, undertake research, and meet objectives.
- Problem Solving: Organized, imaginative approach to work, managing difficult situations.
- Time Management: Work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Technical Proficiency: Use of Office 365 or willingness to undergo training.
Knowledge:
- Housing and Homelessness: Sound understanding and awareness.
- Landlord and Tenant Law: Strong knowledge, including possession recovery processes.
Relevant Experience:
- Housing Advice: Experience in providing comprehensive advice on various housing matters and delivering efficient casework service.
