As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a Privacy Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team.

We are on the lookout for a dynamic Legal & compliance specialist adept in the fast-paced and innovative environment of startups, with a focus on servicing corporate clients (top pharma). The role involves review and negotiation of client and supplier contracts, ensuring they not only comply with legal standards but also align with our agile and innovative business approach. A candidate with experience in data privacy, third-party agreements, and employment contracts, and who understands the nuanced legal needs of a startup working within the corporate landscape, would be ideal. A JD degree, adaptability, and a knack for balancing legal rigor with startup flexibility are essential qualities we value.

This is a part-time position, with a workload of 50-80%, offering flexibility in engagement via B2B cooperation or a part-time employment contract.

Tasks

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives on a variety of legal topics, including contracts review, risk & compliance, labor law, partnerships, international ventures, and more
  • Collaborate with management to devise efficient strategies to protect the company's legal interests
  • Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations, offering guidance on risk mitigation strategies
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and provide proactive advice on possible legal issues that may arise
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties, including key stakeholders, regulators, external counsels, and public authorities, while building relations of trust
  • Draft and solidify service agreements, employment contracts, third-party agreements and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights and obligations are clearly defined.
  • Review and negotiate contracts such as Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs)
  • Handle complex legal matters involving multiple stakeholders and external forces
  • Creating reports and performing risk & compliance assessments.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for data protection matters, and ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations
  • Draft and maintain data protection documentation. and conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) as needed.
  • Support the implementation of the Central Privacy Compliance Program to ensure compliance with PeakData's privacy policies and relevant data protection laws
  • Manage documentation on privacy and compliance topic

Requirements

You Have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years specifically focused on data privacy.
  • A Master's degree in Law.
  • Certification in privacy areas such as CIPP/E or CIPM is a significant advantage.
  • Corporate experience in a global environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiarity with contract law, compliance, intellectual property (IP), data management, security, and privacy regulations.
