Part-time HR Advisor







Join our dynamic team as an HR Advisor, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting managers, HR, and Payroll Team members. You will provide timely, professional, accurate, and operational support across a broad spectrum of Human Resources activities.
Tasks
Generic Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with managers, HR, and Payroll Team members to offer professional HR guidance.
- Ensure advice aligns with employment legislation, best practices, council policies, and conditions of service.
- Obtain daily support and advice from the SHRA or HR & OD Manager on complex issues.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of HR policies, practices, systems, and procedures.
- Contribute to corporate initiatives and projects as required.
- Maintain manual and electronic HR records in compliance with Data Protection requirements.
Corporate Accountabilities:
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, challenging inappropriate behaviour and language.
- Adhere to the Council s Health and Safety policies.
- Manage information in line with the Council s policies on Data Protection, GDPR, and Freedom of Information.
- Stay informed about the Council s safeguarding policies for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Task Specifics:
Purpose of the Job:
Provide comprehensive HR advice and support to managers, employees, and partners, particularly in:
- Terms and conditions of employment.
- Recruitment and selection.
- Discipline, grievance, and performance management.
- Change management, including restructuring and TUPE situations.
- Termination of employment.
- Staff learning and development.
- Absence management, occupational health, health and wellbeing, and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
Service to Customers:
Promote a positive image of the service and my client, maintaining constructive relationships with:
- Council employees and managers.
- Local trade union representatives.
- Members of the public.
- External service providers.
Business Improvement/Planning Responsibility:
- Support the delivery of the HR & OD Strategy.
- Manage day-to-day HR cases, including sickness absence, disciplinary, and grievance cases.
- Advise on recruitment and selection.
- Lead on HR policies and procedures.
- Support managers in people management.
- Compile returns, statistics, and reports.
- Assist with specific HR projects.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics and English.
- Associate Membership of the CIPD or equivalent.
- Experience in an HR advisory role.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
- Ability to produce accurate work with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data analysis.
