We are looking to employ a Health & Safety Advisor for a minimum of 3 months to provide H&S Instuction & training, advice guidance to NNC Housing Proerty Services staff, tradespersons and contractors, carry out site inspections particularly on high risk projects. Liaise with NNC corporate H&S Team.

As a Health and Safety Advisor operating within a business partnering model, you will work intimately with Housing repairs and maintenance front-line managers. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert advice on a comprehensive range of Health and Safety matters. By understanding the services delivered, you will support managers in identifying and managing risk factors. Furthermore, you will aid in the implementation of health and safety policies and safety management systems, ensuring the protection of our workers and customers, which includes employees, volunteers, contractors, agency staff, residents, and visitors from potential harm resulting from operational activities.

Tasks

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Customer Focus - Health and Safety Advice and Guidance
  • Lead the development of health and safety policies, guidance, and procedures.
  • Provide a client-focused health and safety advisory service.
  • Support colleagues in their health and safety roles.
  • Deliver health and safety training and briefings.
  • Maintain effective working relationships across services.
  1. Monitoring Compliance
  • Review health and safety performance through audits, inspections, and site visits.
  • Report significant findings to relevant managers.
  1. Maintaining Professional Compliance
  • Maintain competences in health and safety management.
  • Research best practices and legal requirements.
  1. Performance Management
  • Support senior managers in measuring health and safety performance.
  • Review and monitor the implementation of Health and Safety Action Plans.
  1. Incident Review and Investigation
  • Review reports of incidents and conduct investigations.
  1. Working Collaboratively
  • Work in partnership with various teams, trade unions, and external providers.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders.
  1. Project Work
  • Undertake health and safety projects as directed.
  1. Policies Input and Organisational Development
  • Support service development through policy input.
  • Deliver training on H&S matters and coach managers.

Requirements

Essential Education and Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 3) or equivalent.
  • Technical Safety Practitioner membership of IOSH or equivalent experience.
