Role and Responsibilities
Act as a Project Coordinator as appropriate
Managing and being responsible for the Health and Safety of colleagues on the move
Driving company vehicles as entitlements allow
Leading and managing aspects of smaller moves/projects and working in conjunction with a Move Manager to complete larger projects/moves
Promoting company core standards and values
Educating training and developing other team members in delivery emphasising best practice quality and standards
Conducting and training colleagues on technical aspects of decommissioning/commissioning of either furniture and/or IT
Managing external contractors during delivery
Ensure working practices are safe and follow company best practice standards
Acting as a client liaison on site between different departments and the onsite team
Completing regular removals activities as and when required
Day to Day
Leading organising and managing move teams
Able to conduct point of work risk assessments and health and safety checks as required including assuring PPE is worn at all times.
Able to deal with changing client needs and react to changes and deliver an excellent service
Deliver excellent customer service through liaising and communicating with the customer
Decommissioning/commissioning of either furniture and/or IT
Safely packaging items before removal or storage
Wrap & protect furniture into special wrappings and packing cases for shipping overseas
As a specialist packer you might go to a location before the move to wrap and pack delicate items like china glass artwork and antiques
Using packaging to protect fragile items such as computers or antiques.
Taking apart larger items of furniture for packing and removal
Taking down curtains and lifting carpets if needed
Removing doors door frames or windows to get large pieces of furniture in or out of a building
Packing items loading them into your vehicle and securing them safely
Checking that all goods are secure before driving off.
Driving to the new location unloading the items reassembling large items and placing them where the customer wants them.
Unwrapping furniture and unpacking cartons.
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements;
Full UK Driving Licence Essential
Experience of supervising teams
Experience of removals
Team Leadership (NVQ or equivalent)
Preferred Skills / Qualities;
Leadership skills
Punctual
Hardworking
Well Groomed
Physically fit
A polite friendly manner and good communication skills
A careful and methodical approach to your work
The ability to work out the most effective way to load items
An honest and responsible attitude to other peoples property
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Longdistance moves for example to a European country involve nights away from home which usually means sleeping in the vehicle. Most vehicles now have sleeper cabs and cooking facilities.
Operatives spend a lot of time in the cab of the removal vehicle travelling to and from base and between loading and unloading points.
