This vibrant and inclusive primary school in Hackney is committed to providing a supportive learning environment for all students including those with special educational needs (SEN). The school is looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with a child with autism. You will provide tailored individual support to ensure the child can engage with the curriculum develop social skills and succeed in a structured setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with autism focusing on their academic social and emotional development.
  • Implement and adapt individual learning plans to meet the specific needs of the child.
  • Support the child in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to create a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor the childs progress providing feedback to teachers and the SENCo and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Assist the child with any personal care needs and help manage their behaviour in a positive constructive manner.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism is preferred.
  • Understanding of autism and the strategies required to support children with this condition.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with teachers parents and external professionals.
  • A patient empathetic and nurturing approach.
  • A clear DBS check.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
