Autism Support Assistant OUTSTANIDNG School inHarrow

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Autism Support Assistant to join a forwardthinking school in Harrow. In this role you will provide tailored 1:1 support to children with autism working closely with a dedicated SEN team to ensure each child receives the care and guidance they need to succeed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with autism helping them engage with the curriculum and develop social skills.
  • Work alongside the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
  • Assist with the social and emotional development of students ensuring they feel safe and supported within the school environment.
  • Adapt classroom activities and materials to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers SENCO and parents.
  • Support positive behaviour and help students manage sensory and communication challenges.
  • Collaborate with external professionals such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists when needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with autism in an educational or care setting.
  • Knowledge of autism and associated behaviours with an understanding of how to support children with sensory and communication needs.
  • A calm patient and nurturing approach to supporting children with SEN.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff parents and external specialists.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN support or teaching assistance are desirable.
  • A DBS check is required.
