The Track & Trace Mechanical Fitter & Installation Engineer will be responsible for the assembly installation testing and commissioning of bespoke machinery for Track & Trace systems. This handson role involves collaborating with professionals in mechanical and electrical disciplines and representing the company at customer sites. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the safe and efficient installation of our systems in production lines predominantly with a focus on FMCG and automation.

Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Build & Installation:

  • Assemble and test Track & Trace machinery from component to fully functional customerready equipment.
  • Work closely with engineering and controls teams to drive machinery improvements and upgrades.
  • Ensure machine compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Take ownership of mechanical installation at customer sites including faultfinding and troubleshooting.
  • Install thirdparty equipment such as Domino printers and Flexlink handling systems.
  • Provide mechanical training and support to customers.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Liaise with Supply Chain Engineering and Controls departments to address shortages delays and project updates.
  • Coordinate with customers stakeholders and thirdparty suppliers to ensure smooth project .
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives supporting R&D tasks and developing new systems.


Requirements

Must Haves:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar qualification.
  • Timeserved mechanically biassed apprenticeship.
  • At least 5 years of experience in bespoke machine design and manufacturing.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design processes assemblies and manufacturing.
  • Ability to take initiative on mechanical builds and installations.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical discussions with customers and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work abroad for extended periods as required by projects.
  • A proactive calm and empathetic attitude toward colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

Desirable Qualities:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working on international customer projects.
  • Familiarity with automation machines PLCs vision systems and coding systems.
