Summary of Work
As part of a strategic focus on strengthening the role of practices in the customer s Digital environment, you will work with Product and User Centred Design (UCD) practices to undertake a review of community maturity and effectiveness in meeting the needs of the membership and organisational objectives.
Work Description
The customer s Product and UCD practices include a range of DDaT aligned professional communities.
Product; Product Management, Business Analysis and Accessibility Specialist. UCD; Content, Interaction & Service Design and User Research.
The specialist will be working with members from each of the professional communities, along with practice and community leadership; Heads of Practice, Heads of Role, Community Leads and Practice Support.
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with community leaders and membership
- Build a body of research evidence to understand levels of maturity and effectiveness
- Analyse findings, and report back to practice/community leadership
- Recommend actions to drive community maturity and effectiveness
Working Arrangement
The specialist will work remotely with occasional on-site meetings or presentations as required.
DWP community membership is geographically spread across 6 digital hubs (Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, London, Sheffield, Blackpool) working a hybrid pattern of 3 days at home 2 days in an office.
A high proportion of community members and leadership are based in the Newcastle hub:

Requirements
Essential Skills
- Experience of leading change implementation to embed, coach and mature the community of practice model in large digital private organisations or digital Government departments.
- Have led research studies through qualitative and quantitative methods to understand business problems and user needs.
- Experience of translating research findings into a detailed recommendations
- Experience of stakeholder engagement, managing senior stakeholder expectations, ensuring stakeholders are kept up to date with progress, risks, and issues
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience of working with the DDaT framework and what this means for an organisation
- An understanding of CDDO, CDDO Service Standard and Technology Code of Practice
