Searo is developing and scaling processes to manufacture advanced natural materials to replace plastic The companys technology builds on over a decade of research into sustainable material technology yielding applications ranging from packaging to fashion textiles and food

Searo has assembled a worldleading implementation team to commercialise its technology The company operates out of our labs on Cambridge Science Park and has recently established an engineering pilot facility in Cambridgeshire

With the opening of our new Pilot Facility we are looking for a Process Development Engineer to provide technical support in setting up running and maintaining our production line where Searo is pioneering the next generation of sustainable materials to replace plastic

Tasks

This is a handson position for a highly motivated individual with the ability to run batch manufacturing modules (both manually operated and automated) Example tasks include

  • Setting up and operating pilot equipment for both testing and for the production of material products for pilot trials
  • Technical support and assistance in matters related to plant or laboratory equipment delivery installation setting up testing running and maintenance
  • Making sure that equipment is running properly and is well maintained
  • Support testing activities in the analytical laboratories
  • Provide support in Health &#x Safety and site/security management
  • Performing regular equipment calibrations
  • Taking stock of reagents materials and equipment Maintaining general facility upkeep and equipment quality control
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure adequate stock rotation and recording incoming materials for traceability
  • Keeping records of standard operating procedures
  • Assisting and supporting the continuous improvement of new product development programmes and processes
  • Reporting any significant variation or fault to the line manager
  • Proactively identifying areas for improvement within the Pilot Facility and conducting all work with good engineering practice
Requirements
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment having provided technical support in a research or production facility preferably at piloting stage
  • Basic knowledge of R process and technology scaleup
  • Knowledge and ability to follow good engineering practices and procedures to a high standard
  • Good organisation skills specifically for new process development experimental processes and facility maintenance
  • Accurate persistent and able to manage workload through prioritisation and time management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office competency
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK and available to work onsite at our pilot facility in Cambridgeshire on a fulltime basis and from timetotime at our labs on Cambridge Science Park Access to own transport is a significant advantage and you may be required to travel
