Protea Recruitment is currently recruiting for a company which is one of the largest in their sector in the world. Due to recent expansion and new projects, our client is looking to recruit an Engineering Manager for the processing facility.
Reporting to the Site Manager and managing a team Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Overall control of all Engineering & Electrical Maintenance within the site to ensure the effective operation of all plant & equipment.
- Safely deliver cost-effective maintenanceactivities to site assets according to our annual maintenance plan and situational demands.
- Led a high-performing engineering team, delivering performance and service through excellence.
- Responsible for delivery of maintenance, maximum availability and optimum efficiency of the production plant, equipment, facilities and systems. Ensure equipment is maintained to comply with relevant food safety, H&S and environmental guidance.
- Responsible for ensuring all tasks are carried out within the allocated work area; are done so to protect product safety, legality, and quality and following the Food Safety Management System, which encompasses HACCP and the requirements of external certification standards and customer requirements.
- Member of the site leadership team
Main duties:
- Overall responsibility for Engineering & Electrical Maintenance on-site.
- Control of budget for the Maintenance Dept.
- Control & reduce energy usage.
- Control internal planned maintenance through the Shire maintenance system. In addition, control of all engineering spares etc. is also through this system.
- Communicate with Leadership Team and Dept Managers to ensure effective and efficient Maintenance services are provided.
- Liaise with external contractors about technical queries, service contracts, service problems and general enquiries.

- Working hours and practices, alignment with production, overtime
- Manage rotas for staff to ensure adequate cover all year round.
- Identify the team s training and development needs and facilitate delivery of the programme to meet these needs.
- Management of Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental documentation & records for the Maintenance Dept.
Knowledge and skills:
- A degree in Engineering or equivalent, ideally with relevant food industry experience, is beneficial but not essential.
- FMCG experience is essential, preferably gained within the Chilled industry.
- Computer literate Excel, Word etc
- Strong organisational and people management skills with a proven track record of getting the best out of people.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation and as part of the Leadership team to set the high standards we expect.
- Highly numerate and experienced in managing a significant department budget.
- Familiar with Lean/Manufacturing Excellence.
- A highly motivated, self-starting individual with the ability to cope with a demanding/challenging but rewarding role.
