About the Role:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Geography department ensuring it aligns with the schools overall vision and educational goals.
  • Oversee the quality of teaching learning and assessment in Geography across Key Stage 3 and potentially Key Stage 4.
  • Identify and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies to enhance student engagement and geographical understanding.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the Geography department promoting the sharing of best practices and professional development.
  • Teach a full timetable of engaging and stimulating Geography lessons demonstrating strong subject knowledge and pedagogical skills.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Employ effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform future teaching.
  • Maintain strong links with external geographical societies and organizations to enrich the curriculum and provide students with wider learning opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the departments resources budget effectively.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified Geography teacher with a minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience including significant leadership experience.
  • A proven track record of raising standards in Geography and a demonstrable passion for the subject.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to staying abreast of current trends and developments in Geography education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
