The Role

Responsible for providing proactive and solution-focused advice to line managers across the authority to improve organizational performance and support the delivery of the organization's objectives.
Tasks
- Provide high-quality and professional specialist advice and guidance to line managers on all people aspects, council policies, terms and conditions, and pensions processes.
- Provide advice on immigration rules and the sponsoring of migrants to the organization.
- Develop strong working relationships with line managers at all levels.
- Oversee HR cases from end to end, including grievance, disciplinary, capability, and absence management.
- Identify and address people issues hindering departmental and service objectives.
- Coach line managers to fulfill their people management responsibilities.
- Oversee change management programs, including service reorganizations and TUPE transfers.
- Deliver HR best practice training to line managers.
- Carry out job evaluations.
- Produce regular reports on HR activities.
- Undertake HR projects as required.
- Identify ways to improve the quality and value of HR services.
- Keep up to date with HR developments, including employment legislation.
- Deputize for the Senior HR Business Partner when required.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:Knowledge:
- Good understanding of employment law, effective people management practices, and the latest developments in HR.
Skills & Attributes:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- Able to work on own initiative in a pressurised and complex environment to tight deadlines.
- Ability to balance priorities across service areas.

Experience:
- Experience of working in a generalist HR role.
- Experience of end-to-end case management, including grievance, disciplinary, capability, and absence management.
- Experience of providing professional HR advice on a range of HR policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Professional HR qualification or working towards.
Personal Circumstances:
- Willingness to study if not qualified.
- Able to occasionally work outside of core hours to meet business needs.
- Able to travel as the role requires.
