Ecologist to Senior Ecologist

You will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering high-quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies, collaborating with our talented team of ecologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting and leading on ecological surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and biodiversity audits.
- Undertaking environmental impact assessments and preparing ecological reports.
- Designing and implementing appropriate mitigation measures to enhance biodiversity and protect ecological habitats.
- Providing expert advice on ecological matters to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Mentoring and supporting junior ecologists, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their professional development.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
About you
- At least a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Several years experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong focus on conducting surveys, assessments, and preparing a range of ecological reports.
- Sound knowledge of UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
- A proven track record in managing and delivering ecological projects, meeting deadlines, with at least 3 years of experience in project management.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience of advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain including production of Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA) and use of the DEFRA metric.
- A particular interest or skill in ornithology or protected species, including licence holders, would be advantageous.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM).
- A full UK driving licence and access to vehicle.
