Our client is a vibrant, growing practice with a team passionate about making accounting accessible to entrepreneurs and small business owners. The firm will soon merge with a similar practice to create one entity, from which the Managing Directors look to retire from in 3-5 years. (And hand over the reins to the successful applicant of this job advert!) The practice is tech-forward with a tandem focus on the value of in-person client visits.
Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant who looks to progress into a leadership position. The practice is tech-forward combined with the value of in-person client visits. In this role you will:
- Work with small business owners and similar organisations to support their accounting needs
- Review bookkeeping, accounting, compliance and tax work done by team
- Act as a primary contact for clients
- Add value to basic services (management accounts, advise of business performance)
- Organise, run and follow up programme of regular meetings, video and telephone calls with clients
This is a next generation opportunity for the right candidate to take the reins as Director of two soon-to-be merged accounting practices in their combined entity. You will be coached, mentored and supported to eventually run a practice with 50-60+ clients and a turnover of 1million. The current Managing Directors look to retire within 3-5 years and leave the management of the firm to their second in command maybe you!
This position will suit an ACA or ACCA qualified (newly qualified is fine) looking to progress to a Director role. You have excellent people and project management skills and a passion for making accounting accessible to clients. You aren t afraid to get stuck in to solve a problem, you know how to maximise efficiency through technology, and you have a broad range of skills from Xero to accounting to taxation. Ideally, you have some advisory experience, but this is a skill the MDs are happy to mentor and coach you on as you progress in the role.
Requirements
- Qualified ACA or ACCA - newly so is fine, but must be qualified
- High people management, organisational and communication skills
- Hands-on problem-solver with a passion to help others
- Sound project management skills with experience in successfully managing a client portfolio
- Broad range of accountancy and finance skills from bookkeeping to accounting, and management accounts to taxation
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Modern, IT-led approach, familiar with connectivity and maximising efficiency through IT

- Salary: Up to 50,000, DOE

About You ACCA qualified or QBE 5+ years of experience working within a practice Experience of confidently working in a client facing role Highly experienced in all things VAT related Comfortable working on corporate tax matters and statutory accounts Attention to detail, problem-solving skills Confident in sharing your ideas Relationship-builder Experience with managing or supervising a team is advantageous Knowledge of Carbon would be great but not necessary
