  • Location: Walsall, WS2 9EP, with remote work
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week

As a Youth Justice Officer, you'll manage cases for young individuals in or at risk of entering the youth justice system. Your role involves assessing, planning, and supervising disposals for vulnerable children and adults in compliance with national Youth Justice, Social Work, and Health Care regulations, standards, and local policies.

Tasks

  • Manage a caseload and conduct assessments.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and intervention plans.
  • Deliver or coordinate interventions for young people and parents.
  • Work collaboratively with partners.
  • Safeguard service users.
  • Support youth justice services and youth development.
  • Comply with equal opportunities and health & safety policies.

Requirements

Knowledge: Understanding of youth justice aims, legislation, policy, safeguarding, child development, and family dynamics.

  • Skills & Abilities: Effective communication, judgment, workload management, adaptability, and creativity.
  • Experience: Working with complex vulnerable children and youth, caseload management, and multi-agency coordination.
  • Qualifications: Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., Foundation Degree in Youth Justice).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge: Understanding of discrimination within the criminal justice system.
  • Qualifications: Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Social Work Degree, Probation diploma, or Youth Justice Degree).
  • Customer Care: Knowledge of effective customer care.
