Job Purpose
- The role will be part of the Strategy & Transformation Team and is a key role required to deliver strategic change projects including regulatory change, digital transformation and other change initiatives in line with the Bank s strategy.
- Typically, this will require 3-5 projects of low-medium size and complexity which may include business process transformation, regulatory change, digital transformation or efficiency projects
Key areas of the role will include: -
- To deliver projects and manage change in line with the bank s strategic objectives and adhering to Group Change Management standards which is a combination of waterfall, agile and hybrid methodologies. For digital projects agile/scrum methodology is used
- To lead key phases of the project lifecycle including inception, business case, planning, design/requirements, build, testing, implementation and project close/benefits realization, working with project stakeholders across the bank including EU Subsidiary, Group Head Office (Bahrain) and third parties as required
- To identify and manage risks and issues to the time, cost and quality objectives of the project or programme
- To set up the appropriate project governance, including sponsor, steering/working group and to provide regular status reporting and other governance artefacts in line with the bank s standard
- To lead change management activities to ensure the changes brought about by the project are sustainable, including ensuring business impact assessment, training needs analysis, training and communication and business readiness assessments are carried out
- To ensure client & business objectives and impacts are delivered and sustained, working with business stakeholders post completion of projects to review outcomes against objectives and identify and additional actions to embed change
Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Deliverables:
Managing Projects
- Understanding and applying the selected project management methodology with reference to the Group Project Management Standard
- Applying the relevant level of project management governance and control
- Engaging project stakeholders at all levels.
- Coordinating and leading project communication
- Ensuring clear project definition, objectives and deliverables
- Lead and manage the project through design/build/test/implement stages and or agile sprint cycles (as scrum master equivalent role)
- Ensuring budgets are defined and tracked throughout the project lifetime
- Actively managing changes to project scope
- Regularly reporting status to the project stakeholders
- Managing the project governance including Producing clear and accurate documentation and working with the Banks tools including JIRA, MS SharePoint/PowerPoint/Excel and the Banks PPM tool Planview
Risk Management:
- Report promptly to a line manager any perceived risks or failure of existing controls.
- Actively identifying and managing issues and risks and escalation as appropriate
Knowledge
- Project/Programme management qualification such as Prince 2, PMP, etc.
- Project Management & Change Management including planning, delivery and risk/issue management -
- Knowledge of waterfall and agile methodologies
- Good understanding of banking operations/key processes. Trade Finance
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Excel and Word is essential. Jira desirable. SharePoint and PowerBI would be advantageous.
Education
- Prince2/ PMP (Above foundation level) qualification
Experience
- Previous experience in Financial Services is essential (5 years+) - ideally with a small to medium sized Bank but other Fl's considered.
- Experience of working with regulatory and compliance projects would be advantageous, as would experience of working in an international context.
- The role holder will need to understand with and engage in the subject matter and objectives of the projects, so a good general understanding of the banking industry and banking regulation would be advantageous
- ABCIB is particularly active in Trade Finance and Receivables, Commercial Real Estate Lending and Treasury. An understanding of these product/s would be helpful, but familiarization training will be provided.
