We are recruiting on behalf of our private sector client who provide specialist child support services. We are seeking to recruit a Service Manager for their 3 bed home.
The organisation supports vulnerable young people presenting with complex social care needs. The young people they support require bespoke packages within multi occupancy homes or solo occupancy accommodation working with staff who facilitate the development of sense of self and key skills. The aim of all the services is to support young people into independence.
The organisation works with managers to ensure appropriate resources, personnel and support systems are in place to deliver the required standards of support.
Overview of Role
The Service Manager is expected to complete all duties set out within statute and using as a guide the Children s Homes Regulations, including Quality Standards (2015) . The home/ service is unregulated however our expectations are that the home/ service will adhere to the high standards expected by Ofsted whilst staying within the remit of supported accommodation as set out in our policies.
The Home/ service Manager may be required to work across different sites within the Organisation at times.
Requirements
Experience
At least 2 years recent experience in a managerial role in a care setting.
Experience of managing fast paced settings with challenging behaviour.
Experience of carrying out administrative duties such as filing, recording, rota preparation and report writing for Children s Homes.
Experience of carrying out supervision, capability, appraisals and induction.
Experience of managing safeguarding cases.
Education, Qualifications & training
Professional qualification to Level 3 Health and Social Care (children s pathway).
A willingness and desire to pursue further training.
Up-to-date safeguarding and/or recruitment training/ management training.
Child Care Skills
Knowledge of children s needs and rights, and how they can be best be met.
An awareness of policy and regulations relating to child care.
Knowledge of child development and what behaviour is age appropriate to individual children, and the flexibility to respond to these needs.
A knowledge of current child care law, specially related to children in care.
An awareness of the principles of good child care planning.
Fully conversant with 1989 Children Act.
Experience of working with young people aged 16 plus.
An ability to demonstrate good child care practice in your own direct work.
Thorough knowledge of Care Standards Act 2000.
Thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures and practice within the child care industry.
