The EHS & Facilities will report to the EHS Manager and where the objective is to provide professional support and guidance to Organisation to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities for EHS compliance and ensure site facilities requirements are met.
Tasks
Objectives
- The scope of responsibilities for the position covers all employees and contractors working on behalf of the Organisation.
- Ensure that a safe workplace is maintained and that all individuals are aware of their responsibilities with regard to the site and the equipment in use.
- To improve EHS performance so that accidents, and ill health is eliminated. Key Tasks - EHS
- To report and provide management support to ensure compliance with all current relevant health & safety legislation in a way which protect health, safety, and environment of the workforce.
- In collaboration with stake olders, drive forward a world class employee safety culture by
demonstrating and living the core values of Organisation. - Identify forthcoming legislation which may impact on the business and maintain current legal register.
- Carry out Site Safety Inspections to ensure compliance of site policies and procedures, corporate initiatives and prepare appropriate reports using company electronic software.
- Deliver health and safety inductions for all new staff and contractors where appropriate, including review of submitted RAMS/Job Task Risk Assessment and issuing permit to work.
- Establish an effective method of communicating the health and safety message(s) to all employees for example, Toolbox Talks, Subject matter presentations etc.
- Arrange and co-Chair the onsite EHS Committee and organise appropriate sub-committees.
- Investigate reported all hazard observations, near misses, accidents, or dangerous occurrences as per company policy and use problem solving techniques to resolve issues relating to EHS.
- Support EHS Manager in maintaining third party accreditations for example, 14001, 45001, SafeContractor, CHAS etc.
- Work closely with project managers to support compliance with customer s safety requirements for site work, and where necessary compliance with CDM regulations.
- Complete, monitor and control Customer Assessment Questionnaires.
- Ensure that a program is in place for completion of necessary job task risk assessments, supported by Operational and Labs.
- Manage the portal for the inspection of LOLER, PUWER, LEV etc.
- Identify EHS training needs and ensure that suitable training is provided via internal and/or external providers.
- Ensure that correct personal protective equipment is supplied, serviced, and worn by all personnel.
- Report KPIs monthly as determined by EHS Manager.
Key Tasks Facilities
- Ensure that the site, buildings, and services are adequately maintained to provide a safe working environment and ensure any maintenance work is carried in accordance with safe working practices, method statements and current legislation and regulations.
- Ensure that the site security and alarm systems are adequate for the needs of the company and that they are correctly maintained.
- Adhere to the company s EHS policy and company policies and procedures and set a personal example and exercise core values.
Requirements
Qualifications / Experience
Essential (must have)
- Experience in a health and safety role
- H&S qualification i.e., NEBOSH General Certificate etc.
- Fully familiar with risk assessment techniques, including COSHH.
- Knowledge of chemical hazards
- Awareness of CDM regulations
- Experience of co-ordinating safety activities where work is being carried out on customer sites.
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable (nice to have)
- Preferably some experience of operating within a EHS Management System (ISO14001 & ISO45001)
- Some experience of working in a chemical environment would be preferred
