Head of PMO - Legal Industry







The Head of Project Management is the leader of the Project Management Office (PMO) with the accountability of managing the team and being responsible for the overall project delivery function against the deliverables.
The successful candidate must be commercially astute and will ensure projects stay on track and to budget and that any complexities are managed effectively to resolution. Being at the apex of the project office the candidate will empower the team to use best practice processes and ensure that the team are up to speed with the latest product developments and agile delivery capabilities.
The Head of PMO will also act as a key contact to the wider organisation in terms of project status reporting and will work closely with the sales and pre-sales teams to ensure that the project scopes are effectively defined.
Capabilities and responsibilities
- Excellent leadership and experience in owning the PMO function
- Strong commercial acumen with overall accountability for exceeding customer expectations, while delivering projects successfully
- Strong people management capabilities development, coaching, retention and succession planning
- Ownership of key performance indicators with excellent communication skills both internally and externally
- Effectively manage and contribute to the process improvement and change management initiatives to ensure best practices delivery capabilities are continually developed
- Support the team in defining project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant internal and external stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility and overarching success of the projects
- Be responsible for the budget, resourcing and project status reporting to the executive team
- Chair and run internal and external meetings using your excellent consultative interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritise
Desirable attributes
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE II Practitioner certifications
- Highly knowledgeable of project management processes and procedures
- Experience in the legal industry either within a firm, in-house legal or legal vendor with knowledge of practice management, document management and case management solutions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Active Directory, SQL & Citrix.
