As a Housing Options Officer, you will play a crucial role in fulfilling WNC's statutory obligations related to homelessness and housing under various housing acts. Your primary responsibilities include assessing homeless applications, providing advice, and managing housing cases.
Tasks
- Assess homeless applications, manage a caseload, and carry out investigations into homelessness under relevant housing acts.
- Prevent and relieve homelessness by offering advice and assistance to clients to resolve their housing needs.
- Respond to inquiries, conduct interviews, and maintain accurate records to ensure timely information availability.
- Process housing register applications, assess eligibility, and facilitate property allocations in line with community considerations.
- Organize and administer temporary accommodation placements and address issues such as license arrears and antisocial behavior.
- Stay updated on changes to housing-related legislation and policies, working independently within the framework of policies and regulations.
- Assist in implementing new legislation and support initiatives within the organization and relevant agencies.
- Ensure efficient and secure information management through the use of Office 365 and internal IT systems.
- Challenge and eliminate discriminatory practices or behaviors, promoting equal opportunities.
- Demonstrate an understanding of various needs, ensuring health, safety, and welfare at all times.
