- Act as single point of contact for all technical accounting issues, liaising with group auditors as needed.
- Work closely with Director, Entity Control and be responsible for providing technical accounting advice and guidance, including implementation of new requirements and improvements related to US GAAP.
- Create a center of accounting excellence and lead the development of group-wide accounting policies e.g., CECL, Revenue supporting Finance, Entity Control and business with policy interpretation and application.
- Develop group accounting manual and update annually.
- Support group’s statutory reporting, ensuring compliance and best practice.
- Manage technical accounting issues log, ensuring timely resolution of all issues and adapt controls where necessary.
- Provide technical accounting support with a commercial mindset for M&A activity, new products and initiatives, modelling accounting impacts on group results supporting the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Management Team, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, IT, PMO, and group auditors.
- Develop and implement technical accounting training across the group to build a higher level of general understanding of key technical issues.
- Proven ability to translate detailed and complex information into concise and coherent management information.
- Regular exposure to Group CFO, senior management, and board committees.
- Ex auditor/Big 4 Qualified Accountant - minimum 5-7 years’ experience.
- Banking and Treasury Experience preferred.
- Strong Technical Accounting Experience – US GAAP, IFRS, JGAAP with Regulatory Reporting in a multi-currency environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to work remotely with minimal physical interaction with staff.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Teamwork – Accomplishes results through coordination of a team of professionals as well as working cross functionally.
- Experience of BI tools such as Power BI, Microstrategy, QlickView and Business Objects a selection advantage.
- Japanese language or Japanese company experience not required but beneficial.
