Costs Lawyer/Executive (Immediate start)







- Prepare and submit claims for costs for assessment and payment within the desired timescales.
- Provide guidance, advice and supervision to fee earners where required on any cost matters.
- Advising other departments regarding costs issues.
Requirements
Key tasks (not an exhaustive list)
1. Drafting schedules of costs
2. Production/preparation of Bills for assessment by the court.
3. Drafting PODs and replies
4. To complete post-assessment work to include checking bills received, considering time crucial
submission dates, to complete EX80 s (assessment certificates)
5. To assist in drafting High Costs Case Plans for submission to the Court/Third Party Representatives etc.
6. To liaise and advise with fee earners and support staff in relation to any costs related query
7. Drafting estimates of costs to accompany Allocation Questionnaires and Pre Trial Checklists
8. Drafting statements of costs (N260 s)for summary assessment
9. Conductingnegotiations re costs issues
10. DraftNotices of Commencement to serve bills of costs on paying parties
11. Drafting points of dispute and replies to points of dispute
12. Attending detailed assessment hearings
13. Undertaking other duties reasonably required by partners or senior management
14. Maintain and promote the Company s good name, products, services and reputation
15. Gain or maintain IT skills appropriate to modern legal practice, such as ability to send, forward and respond to e-mails with or without attachments, conduct research on internet and ensure proper filing of all data.
16. Understand the main uses and applications of the office telephone system e.g. be able to re-route calls, set up conference calls, etc.
