To perform tasks as a Senior Project Manager responsible for defining, developing, and delivering large-scale (> 250k), complex, and high-risk corporate projects that serve external partners and customers. You will be part of the Shared Portfolio Programme Team, providing project management leadership to deliver successful business change and sustainable improvements.

Tasks

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Define and agree on business requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
  2. Actively engage with stakeholders and communicate effectively on project deliverables.
  3. Ensure compliance with Prince2 and PMO standards for project definition, governance, and management.
  4. Secure and allocate resources, monitor project budgets, and adjust spending as necessary.
  5. Manage project teams and priorities, ensuring the project delivers quality products on time and within budget.
  6. Advise project boards, prepare project documentation, and manage tender processes if necessary.
  7. Demonstrate awareness of equal opportunities and health and safety practices.
  8. Maximize personal productivity and effectively use IT and internal systems.

Requirements

Person Specification (Essential Criteria):

  • Demonstrate effective use of Office 365 (incl. Teams, OneDrive, etc.) or willingness to undertake training during the probation period.
  • Knowledge and significant experience in project/change management concepts and methodologies in a complex environment (e.g., Agile, Senior PM v4 PRINCE2, MSP, LEAN, or equivalent).
  • Experience of managing medium and large-sized projects (> 250k) with external partners.
  • Evidence of consistently achieving results within a largely unsupervised environment.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships within complex projects, including conflict resolution.
  • Significant experience managing budgets.
  • Significant experience leading, managing, coaching, and developing diverse project teams.
  • Experience designing suitable key performance indicators and tracking project benefits.
  • Awareness of the National and Local Government agenda, current issues, and challenges.
  • Political sensitivity and the ability to influence and manage conflict of interests and sensitive project issues.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-critical, recognizing and learning from mistakes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to gain the respect of multi-disciplinary project teams, enthuse and motivate individuals and teams.
  • Ability to successfully manage significant changes in working practices.
  • Graduate level or equivalent professional qualification or relevant senior management experience.
  • Post-graduate qualification or recognized professional training in program/project management.
  • Evidence of professional, academic, or management studies in HR, Finance, IT, or Procurement (desirable).
  • Commitment to ongoing lifelong learning and personal development (desirable).
