As a Domestic Assistant at Edenmore Nursing Home, you wont need to have experience in a previous role like this or have experience in a care home. What you will need is a positive can-do attitude, take pride in everything you do, have a naturally caring nature, and want to work with a team that has an ethos of a one team approach (link removed)>
So, what will I be doing?
In short, your responsibility is to maintain a safe, hygienic, and well-presented home. This could include lots of different responsibilities, just some as an example will be to keep bedrooms tidy, keeping wardrobes neat & clothes crease free, dusting shelves, keeping the floors squeaky clean and carpets fresh, attending to the bathrooms to make sure they are sparkling and have plenty of toiletries in them.
Who else will I be working with?
We have a one-team approach throughout the home. Even though youll have your own responsibilities, working alongside you will be Homemakers, Laundry Assistants and Care Assistants. An example of a one-team approach would be if a Care Assistant saw some food on the floor, they wouldnt just walk over it because its not their job , they would clear it up there and then.
Will I be interacting with the people living in the home?
Most definitely. Imagine if you were visiting one of your own family members, you would be chatting and laughing together, maybe helping to solve a crossword or folding clothes together. Its important to not only forge friendships with team members but with the people that live in the home also.
