Job Overview:

The Legal Cashier will be responsible for managing all aspects of the firm s financial transactions in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. This role requires a strong understanding of legal accounting and the ability to work accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing client and office account transactions including receipts payments and transfers.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and other relevant regulations.
  • Handling daily banking duties including reconciliations of bank accounts.
  • Managing the firm s purchase ledger ensuring all invoices are correctly recorded and paid on time.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthend and yearend financial reports.
  • Liaising with fee earners and support staff to resolve account queries.
  • Monitoring client account balances and ensuring timely transfers to office accounts.
  • Assisting with audits and ensuring all financial practices adhere to statutory requirements.
  • Providing support and cover for other members of the finance team as needed.


Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm is essential.
  • Solid understanding of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.
  • Strong knowledge of legal accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
  • A proactive approach to problemsolving and continuous improvement.
