Salary:- £30,572 - £34,863
We are recruiting for a Senior Allocations Officer for a local authorityin Scotland.The Housing Advice and Support Service brings together all teams relating to the following: Housing Options and Allocations, Housing Needs Assessment, Financial Inclusion, Private Sector Housing and Rapid Rehousing. These teams are essential to the Early Intervention and Community Empowerment Cluster, with a strong focus on homeless prevention, alleviation, tenancy sustainment and reduction of time spent on the homeless journey.
The postholder is responsible for managing the Allocations Team who administer the council s housing lists and allocate offers of accommodation. The team are responsible for allocating all types of housing including temporary accommodation, as well as administrating mutual exchanges, garages, and parking spaces. The postholder is responsible for ensuring that allocations are carried out in line with the council s scheme of allocations policy with appropriate recording.

Requirements
As a minimum, demonstrate skills and experience in:-

Housing policy and legislation

City Council s Scheme of Allocations
.
Scottish Government Code of Guidance on Homelessness
.
Working with related services provided by other Aberdeen City Council teams
.
Working with related services provided by external agencies
.
Monitoring and developing services
As a minimum, demonstrate an understanding of:-

Ability to take a day-to-day lead role with respect to service delivery
.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including communicating confidently by the telephone and in person
.
Well-developed investigation and negotiation skills
.
Well-developed listening, interpersonal and decision making skills
.
Ability to deal with complex situations and modify behaviour in response to a situation
.
Ability to work with those with the most challenging needs
.
Ability to manage constant and often conflicting demands and deadlines
.
Ability to use a range of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Office and e-mails
.
Ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures
.
Ability to analyse information and produce written reports
