An ambitious school in Westminster is seeking an experienced SENCO to manage SEN provision across the school. Position: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEN provision across the school ensuring that all students with special educational needs receive appropriate support.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and work closely with staff to ensure strategies are effectively embedded in classroom practice.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers parents and external professionals to assess plan and monitor the progress of SEN students.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on SEN strategies ensuring that the school is compliant with current SEN legislation and best practices.
  • Coordinate with external agencies such as speech and language therapists educational psychologists and other specialists to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Oversee the SEN department managing resources and ensuring that SEN interventions are targeted and effective.
  • Monitor the progress of SEN students and provide regular updates to senior leadership and governors.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a SENCO qualification with experience leading SEN provision in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of current SEN legislation and best practices in supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff parents and external agencies.
  • A compassionate organised and childcentered approach to education.
  • A DBS check is required.
