Senior Contract Manager Rail

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Contract Manager to join our growing Rail Division, covering Wales and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Operations Director you will contribute to the growth of this division and will ensure that we exceed our client s expectations on safety, quality and operational delivery.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead and manage a team of contract managers, project managers, site supervisors, and field staff, ensuring they deliver outstanding customer service and exceed client expectations.
- Oversee the successful execution of landscape, ecology, fencing, and minor civils contracts across various sectors, including Road, Rail, Water & Sewage, MoD, Airport, and more.
- Support the Operations Director in delivering growth and improvement initiatives aligned with the company and Divisional business plan.
- Collaborate with the Operations Director and other key stakeholders to shape the ongoing future of the division, embracing innovation and change.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and implement new ideas and best practices.
- Monitor and manage contract budgets, resource allocation, and scheduling to optimize project performance and deliver value to clients.
- Monitor and manage department P&L, ensuring department meets agreed profit margin.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful contract outcomes and long-term partnerships.
- Act with integrity, honouring commitments, and maintaining high ethical standards in all aspects of work.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular contract reviews, performance evaluations, and reporting to senior management.
Who are we looking for?
This is a senior management role that is fundamental to the success of the Rail division going forward, therefore you will need;
- Proven experience (preferably within the rail and/or arboriculture industry) in managing contracts across multiple sectors and clients.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent operational management abilities, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance optimisation.
- Sound understanding of construction techniques, methodologies, and best practices across different sectors.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and technologies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities. A strategic thinker.
- A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service, acting with integrity, and honouring commitments.
- Knowledge and experience of Network Rail s RM, CEM, CRE roles would be advantageous.
